# Collector

> Hosted form backend for static websites. Paste one endpoint into an existing HTML form and receive submissions in a dashboard and by email — no server code required.

Collector is a Formspree-like product. The customer owns the form’s front-end design. Collector handles intake, validation, spam controls, storage, notifications, export, file uploads, and signed webhooks.

## Product facts

- Public submit URL: `POST /v1/forms/{publicId}/submit` (HTML form POST or JSON)
- Named fields are stored. Inputs without a `name` are ignored.
- Default honeypot field: `website` (hidden; bots that fill it are marked as spam)
- File uploads use a browser embed script (`/v1/forms/{publicId}/embed.js`) and Cloudinary. Do not POST raw file bytes to the submit host.
- Allowed file types: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp, pdf, txt, csv, docx
- Notifications retry with backoff. Webhooks are HMAC-signed (`x-collector-signature`)
- Request IDs are returned on success and error responses

- Free: $0 — 500 submissions lifetime, 90-day retention, 200 MB files, 1 notification form
- Starter: $12/month — 5,000 submissions/month, 365-day retention, webhooks, custom thank-you URL
- Pro: $29/month — 25,000 submissions/month, 730-day retention, more recipients and storage

Unlimited projects and forms on every plan. Collector does not silently drop accepted submissions.

## How to connect a form

1. Create an account and confirm email.
2. Create a project, then a form, to get a unique HTTPS endpoint.
3. Set `action` to that URL, `method="POST"`. Every input needs a `name`.
4. Keep the hidden honeypot field.
5. Submit a test and confirm the inbox.

Collector is not a visual form builder, CRM, or custom SMTP provider.
